Dear Readers,
Have you heard about 'Judas'? Not the one in the bible, obviously. I'm referring to Lady Gaga's rebound guy, the one who came along after the difficult relationship with Alejandro. Well, as I read through my tweets just fifteen minutes ago, I found out that E! will premiere the song's video next Thursday. However, we did get a very very very sneak peek at the video (and at what Gaga will be wearing, which is ultimately the most important thing for me ) in the promo, which I'm linking below:
Now, this short preview might leave many indifferent. But not me. You see, I love Lady Gaga and the fashion risks she takes. But, no matter how much I admire her style, I must admit I always found it difficult to let her inspire my style choices. I mean, not many of us can be inspired by a meat dress right? And, in the same way, only a handful of people might be able to walk around in an egg. YET, THIS SHORT CLIP HAS CHANGED IT ALL. Lady Gaga is wearing a bandana, which us mortals can also adapt and include in our everyday life. Undoubtedly, the bandana will be huge after the official premiere of Judas, so we might as well inform ourselves about it.

I think there are two principal ways of wearing the bandana. The first is exemplified by Gaga herself. In this short clip, we can see that Lady Gaga folds her slightly patterned bandana in a long rectangular shape, and then ties it around her forehead. The bandana's knot is hidden somewhere under her blonde hair. From what I can tell, Lady Gaga will be wearing a leather jacket with her black bandana. A black leather jacket, in my opinion, fits perfectly with this type of accessory. As you can see in the set I prepared over here, I paired the bandana with a plain black leather jacket. I suggest keeping the rest very simple. I would also advise wearing a white t-shirt and not a bright coloured one.
The second way of wearing it is slightly more versatile and fun. It's also more vintage-inspired. Instead of wearing a leather jacket, choose a denim jacket or an oversized denim shirt and pair it with a pair of black leggings. For this look, I would rather have the bandana's knot at the top or the side of her head. The bandana shouldn't be on your forehead, but slightly behind your hairline. In this set, I chose a red bandana, because I personally love red bandanas with denim. I would still opt for a light coloured shirt underneath the denim. Maybe it's because the design on the bandana is white (and I love white shirts, tops, blouses etc anyway). So I chose a long white t-shirt and a plain oversized denim shirt. The more daring could pick a pair of cat-eye sunglasses and red lipstick, which give the look a more vintage feel. If you want to accessorise even further, choose a pair of gold studs. You can buy bandanas at really cheap prices from open-air markets and vintage stores. If you, dear reader, are about my age, then you're bound to have one from your teen / pre-teen years. Yes, I used to wear a black bandana at the beach and I felt very cool in it.
If you have any suggestions about bandanas, let me know, I would love to hear them. In the meantime, I will count the hours until Thursday to see what Gaga actually paired with that black bandana after all!

I was about to wear a bandana tomorrow. Obviously, since i haven't yet bought the proper ones, i'm using one of my scarves. It's excellent for hiding bad hair days :)
ReplyDeletehaha I'm wearing one too tomorrow, but mine is a huge colourful scarf :D Best antidote to bad hair days, that's true!
ReplyDeleteI should have both that bandana last Sunday... i'll try and get a red one tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteBOUGHT*
ReplyDeleteyes! tourist shops are great for cheap bandanas! Red ones are the best <3
ReplyDeletefor those readers who have straight or slightly wavy hair, they can back comb the fringe before putting on the bandana for a more vintage feel. those with curly hair (like our B) have natural volume so no need for prep work. i think wearing your hair in this way is super sassy and sexy :P
ReplyDeleteyou are soo soo right :D Hairspray time :P
