As you know I love anything Lolita related and stockings always make me think of her playful fashion sense. Inevitably, I can't help but love them. The thing with stockings is that nine times out of ten, they end up looking slutty or inappropriate even with our best intentions laid out on the table (or our best laid clothes laid out on our bed!). Here's how I include them in outfits without (hopefully) looking like a call-girl.
SKATER STOCKINGS
I dare say this is probably my favourite combination ever, maybe because it also happens to be the most playful. By making sure I'm mega covered up on top (it's cold too, you know!), I like to think I can pull off wearing a skater skirt and thigh-high stockinhs. Whereas you can also go for heels with a look like this, I prefer the childish and yet masculine appeal of brogues. I can't look like a girl for more than 2 mins can I?
LAYERED STOCKINGS
I think I picked up this tip from one of the million fashion gurus I follow religiously on YouTube. Layering is always fun in Boffism World, and the use of multiple hosiery items is something I was immediately drawn to. I feel like this option would also be a good way to sport printed tights for people who, like moi, aren't blessed with model legs. You'd still be wearing some print but in a very restrained manner. It also makes an outfit much more interesting and it adds an extra touch of texture. Can you hear the bells already?
COATED STOCKINGS
It's rather obvious that Blair Waldorf - otherwise known as Queen B - is one whose style I rather fancy right? With her million and one coats and coloured hosiery, I can't deny she was the main source of inspiration for this particular look. I've seen quite a couple of non-neutral coloured stockings out in the stores recently, so I decided to add a pair with this gorgeous navy, military-inspired double-breasted coat dress. The latter type of coats are ideal for ladies with a heavier lower body since the flaring silhouettes does camouflage the residue of all those extra carb portions!
Stockings are definitely 'hot' in Boffism World. And yours?

ReplyDeleteI love the look of stockings too but always been a bit scared to wear them :-( I do think you have to have a good pair of legs and I am always unsure how to pair it with outfits.
